Care For Your Hammock

After spending some money on your hammock swings you will want to make sure that you protect it the correct way so that it will last a long time. Just like anything else that is used outdoors, they are susceptible to weathering, mildew, rust, fading from the sun and many other things.

To achieve proper hammock swings care, you need to wash it regularly. Hammock washing is a very easy process. Depending on the type you own you can either clean it in a washing machine or hand wash it. If it has spreader bars you have no other choice but to hand wash it. If there has no spreader bars, or the spreader bars can be removed, then you have the option to clean your it in a washing machine. Note that cleaning a hammock in a washing machine can cause faster wear and tear on the material then if you hand washed it.

To hand wash one, spread it out on a hard surface such as a drive way or patio. They don’t specifically make hammock swings cleaner. You can use a soft scrubbing brush with mild detergent to clean the surface of the fabric. Also be sure to scrub away any mold or mildew that has formed on the fabric or ropes. Rinse off the fabric with clean water and then hang it in the sun to dry. If you are on storing the hammock make sure the fabric is completely dry or mold and mildew can grow back on the fabric if it is still damp. You won’t know this until you open it and won’t be able to use it.

If you do plan on storing one, make sure it is stored is a cool dry place to avoid growing any mold or mildew on your hammock fabric.
